TSC Promotion: Grade D4 Teachers Excluded As KNUT, KUPPET Calls For Transparency
Teachers unions have expressed apprehension regarding the recent exclusion of certain grades from promotion interviews, particularly Grade D4.
Teachers in D4 have been deprived of the opportunity for advancement despite meeting the criteria to progress to the next level, as asserted by the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) and Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT).

This omission has resulted in an administrative void and deprived Grade D4 teachers of the chance to upgrade, potentially causing stagnation in lower grades.
The situation highlights the obstacles educators face in their quest for professional development, as well as the ramifications of administrative decisions on teacher morale and effectiveness.
According to the unions, the promotion process by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) lacks accountability and transparency, prompting them to take action.
They are now gathering data to address the grievances of teachers who feel unjustly overlooked for promotions.
KUPPET Secretary General Akelo Misori emphasised the difficulties teachers face in their pursuit of professional advancement and acknowledgment within the educational framework.
Misori stated that the experiences of these teachers highlight the frustration and demoralisation felt by many educators as they endeavour for professional growth and recognition within the system.
