TSC To Confirm 26,000 Intern Teachers, Hire Extra 20,000 Interns
Ndindi Nyoro, Chairman of the National Assembly Budget and Appropriation Committee, disclosed that in the 2024–25 financial year, 26,000 intern teachers would be absorbed under permanent and pensionable terms.
The government, through the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), plans to hire an extra 20,000 intern teachers in the next financial year.

According to Nyor, the National Assembly had allocated Sh26.3 billion for the financial year to accommodate the hiring of new interns and confirm the current intern teachers on permanent and pensionable terms.
He emphasised the commitment of the Kenya Kwanza government to address the shortage of teachers in all public primary and secondary schools, citing the 100 percent transition policy.
Nyoro affirmed that President William Ruto promised to confirm all 26,000 current intern teachers for permanent and pensionable employment.

He stated that TSC would recruit an additional 20,000 interns in the upcoming financial year. Nyoro also assured that no region would face discrimination in terms of employment and development based on voting patterns in the last general elections.
He pledged to distribute development projects evenly across the country under President Ruto’s leadership, regardless of the electoral outcomes in the 2022 polls.
