KISE Opens Applications for SNE Diploma Course for Teachers; Qualifications and How to Apply
The Ministry of Education, through the State Department for Basic Education, has announced the commencement of the recruitment process for the Special Needs Education (SNE) Diploma full-time in-service course at the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) for the year 2024.
Serving Teachers Service Commission (TSC) teachers interested in pursuing the two-year full-time SNE Diploma course are invited to apply. The Ministry of Education website (www.education.go.ke) now offers application forms for download, or you can obtain them from the nearest County Directors of Education (CDEs) or Sub-County Directors of Education (SCDEs) offices.
The specialised areas for this year’s course include the education of learners with visual impairments, physical disabilities, mental disabilities, hearing impairments, autism, and behavioural and emotional difficulties.
Applicants are required to submit duly completed application forms personally to the SCDEs by April 2, 2024. The SCDE’s office must send all applications to Jogoo House B, Room 710, 618/19, no later than April 19, 2024.
Admission Requirements:
- Applicants must be under 50 years of age.
- Holders of the P1 certificate or P1 by promotion through Teacher Proficiency Courses, serving TSC teachers for at least five years.
- Must be Kenyan citizens.
During the registration process, each applicant must present the following documents:
- Duly filled out application forms (except for visually impaired applicants).
- Original and certified copies of academic certificates.
- Original and certified copy of the letter of appointment by the TSC.
- Original and certified copy of the professional teacher training certificate.
- Original and certified copy of the national identity card (on both sides) or passport.
- Coloured passport-size photograph taken within the last three months.
- Original and certified copies of other relevant testimonials.
Successful candidates will receive notification via SMS and will be guided in the collection of their admission letters. The registration process is conducted free of charge.
