KUCCPS-Approved Certificate Courses for D+ & Below Students

Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) students securing D+ and D (plain) grades will qualify for enrollment in a certificate program of their choice in 2024.

These certificates are available in colleges and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions sanctioned by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).

For the upcoming academic year, KUCCPS has sanctioned a variety of courses for 2023 KCSE graduates. The options encompass Business and related courses, Building and Construction, Engineering Technology, Information Technology, Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy, Library and Information Science, and Clothing, Fashion, and Textile.

In the realm of Business and Related Courses, there are 75 approved options offered across diverse Kenyan colleges and TVET institutions. Notable courses endorsed by KUCCPS encompass Entrepreneurship, Accounting, Banking and Finance, Sales and Marketing, Secretarial Studies, and Supply Chain Management.

Other choices include Business Administration, Credit Management, Human Resources Management, Cooperative Management, and Project Management. Institutions such as Belgut, Bushiangala, Riragia, Aldai, Bunyala, Gatundu South, and Gitwebe TVET are among those providing these courses.

In Building and Construction, certified courses include Construction Technology, Construction Foreperson, Concrete Construction, Land Survey, and Road Construction.

Eldoret Polytechnic stands out as a leading institution for building and construction-related certificates, and courses are available at various training institutes like Karen, Katine, Konoin, Ol’lessos, Kisumu, Kitale, Meru, Sigalagala, and Bungoma polytechnics.

Engineering Technology offers an alternative for KCSE students who may have missed out on degree and diploma courses, with 99 KUCCPS-approved certificate courses in the sector.

Popular options encompass certificates in Agricultural Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Electronic Engineering. Polytechnics such as Eldoret, Kisii, Kisumu, Kitale, Nyeri, and Sigalagala, along with TVET institutions like Weru, Webuye, Turbo, Tigania East, Shamberembere, Runyenjes, and Ugunja, provide avenues for pursuing these courses.

Under Information Technology (IT), courses include Computer Programming, Information Communication and Technology (ICT), and Computer Science.

Technical Training Institutes like Ahmed Shahame Mwidani, Aldai, Bureti, and Coast Institute of Technology, as well as TVET institutions such as Eldama Ravine, Chamasiri, Chepsirei, Butula, Bunyala, and Bureti, offer these programs.

Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy programs are available to students with a minimum KCSE grade of D, with options in various TVET institutions like Kakrao, Kandara, Kasarani, Kendege, Kieni, Kipsoen, Kiptaragon, Kitutu Masaba, Lodwar, Limuru, Mathioya, Mbeere North, Molo, Mwala, Nachu, Nuu, and Okame.

Library and Information Science certificates are accessible for students with a mean grade of D and above in TVET institutions such as Belgut, Ebukanga, Eldama Ravine, Kajiado West, Keriio Valley, Kipkabus, Lodwar, Masinga, Eldoret, Meru, Sigalagala, and Bungoma Polytechnics.

Certificates in Clothing, Fashion, and Textile, including Clothing Technology, Fashion Design, and Tailoring and Dressmaking, are offered at institutions like Baringo Technical College, Belgut TVET, Eldoret Polytechnic, Emining Technical Training Institute, Friends College Kaimosi, and Keroka Technical Training Institute.
