Hungary Scholarships for Kenyan Students (2024/2025): Apply

The Government of Hungary invites eligible Kenyan students for Two Hundred (200) scholarships across various study domains for the upcoming academic year. These scholarships are available for:

Undergraduate Studies

  • Fields: Agricultural Science, Computer Science and Information Technology, Legal Science, Economic Science, Engineering Science, Medical and Health Science, and Natural Science.
  • Eligibility:
    • Minimum KCSE Mean Grade of B (plain).
    • Age not exceeding 25 years.
    • Attainment of grade “B” in core subjects in the preferred field of study.
    • Completion of Secondary Education within the last three (3) years.
    • Possession of the original KCSE certificate.

Master’s Studies

  • Fields: Agricultural Science, Computer Science and Information Technology, Legal Science, Economic Science, Engineering Science, Medical and Health Science, and Natural Science.
  • Eligibility:
    • Bachelor’s degree with upper second-class honors for Master’s applicants.
    • Relevant Master’s Degree for PhD candidates.
    • Applicants for Master’s programs should be below thirty-eight (38) years, and for PhD programs below forty-five (45) years.

Doctoral Studies

  • Open for any field of interest.

One-Tier Master’s (OTM) Studies

  • Fields: General Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacology, Architecture, and Veterinary Medicine.
  • Note: OTM covers both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels.

Prospective applicants can access the study programs and Host Institutions through the online application system, available from November 15, 2023, at apply.stipendiumhungaricum.hu.

The scholarship provisions encompass tuition fees, accommodation/accommodation contributions for non-dormitory residents, medical insurance, and a monthly stipend.

It’s important to note that these provisions contribute towards living expenses but may not cover all costs in Hungary. Students are advised to check the expected living expenses in Hungary and their desired city before applying by visiting this link.

Application eligibility criteria, specific to each level of study, are detailed below:

Undergraduate Eligibility

Application Procedure: Hungary Scholarships for Kenyan Students

All eligible candidates are required to adhere to the following guidelines strictly:

Online Application:

  • Complete the online application at apply.stipendiumhungaricum.hu.
  • Applicants can upload the necessary documents after registration. A guide to the online submission is available at www.stipendiumhungaricum.hu.
  • Submission deadline for the online application to the Tempus Public Foundation: January 15 2024 (2 pm Central European Time).
  • Download and print the online application, which will be submitted with the standard Scholarship application form.

Doctoral Candidates:
  • Doctoral candidates are should visit www.doktori.hu for more information before applying.
Doctoral Program Applications:
  • Applicants for doctoral programs must have a supervisor at the host university.
  • A statement of acceptance from the supervisor needs to be attached to the application.
Candidates in Service:
  • Individuals in service should submit their applications through their Heads of Departments and attach a recommendation letter.

Standard Scholarship Application Form:

  • Download the form from the Ministry of Education Website: www.education.go.ke.
  • Complete the form and attach certified documents (ID, academic/professional certificates, transcripts, Birth Certificate, Passport, and other testimonials).
  • For postgraduate students, include a study plan/proposal in the area of study (PhD students should provide this separately).
  • Send the completed application form and required documents to:

  • Ministry of Education,
  • P. O. Box 9583 – 00200, NAIROBI
    • Or deliver to Teleposta Towers, 27th floor, Room 2701, by January 17, 2024, at 5:00 pm.

NB:

  1. The Commission for University Education (CUE) must recognize Academic Certificates from Foreign Institutions.
  2. The Ministry of Education is the designated agent for the Hungary Government Scholarships. All interested applicants must undergo the Ministry’s preliminary selection process.
  3. Preference for nominations at the postgraduate level will be given to teaching staff in Universities and university constituent colleges.
