Chinese Government Scholarships for Kenyan Students 2024/2025

The Ministry of Education has received a notification from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Kenya announcing the availability of eighteen (18) Chinese government scholarships for Kenyan students pursuing undergraduate, masters, and PhD programs in the academic year 2024-2025.

Eligibility Criteria:

Undergraduate:

  • Minimum KCSE mean grade of B (Plain)
  • Not exceeding 25 years of age
  • Original KCSE certificate required
  • Substantial rises in major subjects relevant to the area of specialty
  • Completion of secondary education in the last three (3) years

Masters:

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Upper Division
  • Age under 35 years

PhD:

  • Relevant Master’s degree from a recognized University
  • Age under 40 years

Application Procedure:

Interested candidates should visit the official website of the China Scholarship Council (http://www.campuschina.org), navigate to “Scholarship Application for Students,” and create an account. Select Type A under the program category and use Agency Number 4041. For a list of available universities and courses, refer to http://www.campuschina.org/universities/index.html.

Required Documents:

  • Application form for Chinese Government Scholarship
  • Passport home page copy valid until March 1, 2025
  • Notarized certificates and academic transcripts in English or Chinese translations
  • Pre-admission documents from the chosen universities
  • Study plan or research proposal (200 words for undergraduates, 800 words for postgraduates)
  • Two recommendation letters from professors for graduate program applicants
  • Copy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form
  • Certificate of Good Conduct

Submission Procedure:

Submit the completed Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC) application form and required documents to the Director of Higher Education at the Ministry of Education, Teleposta Towers, P.O. Box 9583 – 00200, Nairobi. Alternatively, deliver the documents to the Ministry of Education offices at Teleposta Towers, 27th Floor, Room 2701, by 5:00 p.m. on or before December 8, 2023.

Important Notes:

  • Academic Certificates from Foreign Institutions must be recognized by the Commission for University Education (CUE).
  • The Ministry of Education is the dispatching agent for Chinese Government Scholarships, and all interested applicants must undergo the Ministry’s preliminary selection process.
