5 Cheap Artisan Courses on KUCCPS Portal & Institutions Offering Them
Students who achieved Grade D – (minus) or lower in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) now have the opportunity to apply for specialized artisan programs.
These courses, designed to impart essential skills for the job market, are facilitated through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) portal. The application window for the 2024 KUCCPS cycle is open until February 26, 2024.

The eligibility for specific courses is determined by the grades obtained in the KCSE examinations, with artisan programs tailored for students who scored D – and below.
Examining the cost of these artisan courses, the most expensive offering is the Trade Test Grade II & I in Electrical Wireman at the Kenya Industrial Training Institute, priced at Ksh83,500. Following closely is the Food and Beverage Production (Culinary Arts) Level 4 course at the Railway Training Institute, averaging Ksh72,900.
The majority of artisan courses have an average cost of Ksh67,189, with a few exceptions. The least expensive course in the Artisan program is the Grade III Electrical Installation at the Railway Training Institute, priced at Ksh45,700.

Similarly, the NVCET in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, offered at the same institution, is also available at this cost, training students in designing, installing, and maintaining cooling systems in buildings.
Students interested in enhancing their skills in the plumbing sector can enroll in the Grade III in Pipe Fitting and Plumbing at the Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology for Ksh49,420. Additionally, those keen on learning how to install cooling systems at the same institute will be required to pay Ksh49,420.
For those inclined towards wastewater technology, water supply, and water reading, the Artisan in Sewerage Operators Course at the Kenya Water Institute is available at a fee of Ksh56,000. Likewise, the Water Operators course and the Water Supply Operators program, both offered at the Kenya Water Institute, are also priced at Ksh56,000 each.
