KUCCPS Extends Course Application Deadline, Issues Payment Directive

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has once again decided to extend the application deadline for courses due to ongoing issues on the portal.

In a notice released on Sunday, April 25, the placement service declared an indefinite extension of the application period until they confirm that all eligible students have completed their applications.

The initial deadline for applications was set for Monday, February 26. The statement explained, “The application deadline, which was set for February 26, 2024, has been extended until KUCCPS ascertains that all targeted students have applied.”

During the current application process, every student is considered a first-time applicant, as KUCCPS has discontinued applications at the school level.

Students were urged to avoid double payments, as the verification process now takes longer since the government consolidated all its paybill services into a single number.

The statement emphasized, “Since payments for Government services have been migrated to the eCitizen platform, the process of payment validation for the KUCCPS application is longer than before. Applicants are advised to avoid making double payments.”

The processing of applications for placement will commence once KUCCPS confirms that all applicants have submitted their course choices based on the targeted number of students. Therefore, no one will be disadvantaged based on the day or time of their application.

KUCCPS also noted that after the initial placement exercise, there will be two revision opportunities for students who did not apply initially or those who did not secure their chosen courses to reapply.

This extension marks the second time the service has prolonged the deadline due to system issues. KUCCPS CEO Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome assured, “I take this opportunity to assure all those seeking training opportunities through the KUCCPS portal that no one will be left behind.”

Parents and students expressed concerns about the application process being significantly affected by delays in payment processing.

One user complained about encountering an error message after making a payment, temporarily halting the process, stating, “But this extension will be useless if the system does not improve, imagine trying to apply one application for the last few days without success.”
