TSC Lists Primary School Teachers’ Qualification For JSS Deployment

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has received a total of 10,833 requests from qualified primary school teachers for deployment to Junior Secondary Schools (JSS).

The commission has provided a list of the eligible teachers to be deployed to JSS. The guidelines for deployment have been outlined for a smooth and transparent process.

Firstly, the primary school teachers wishing to be deployed to JSS must be qualified to teach in secondary schools.

They must have an active registration as a teacher with the TSC and currently employed as a primary school teacher. Additionally, they should not be serving an interdiction or undergoing disciplinary processes.

Moreover, the teachers must have a minimum of a Diploma in Education with a minimum of C+ at KCSE (or its equivalent).

They should also have C+ in two teaching subjects currently being offered in the school curriculum (either under 8-4-4 or CBC) or two (2) principles and one (1) subsidiary pass at “A” Level.

Those with a minimum of C (plain) at KCSE (or its equivalent) and have undertaken a Diploma in Education together with a Bachelor Degree in Education qualify.

The degree certificate must be Bachelor of Education. Bachelor of Education (Primary Option) holders are not eligible.

Finally, the primary school teachers must have expressed their interest to be deployed to JSS and their names are on the list shared from the Headquarters.

The deployment process will be based on the guidelines provided to ensure that the best-qualified teachers are selected for the JSS.

It is important to note that the commission is committed to ensuring a smooth and transparent deployment process to provide quality education to students in JSS.
