JSS Deployment: Documents Required During TSC Vetting Process

The Kenyan government has recently introduced a policy aimed at deploying primary school teachers to junior secondary schools. This policy, however, requires thorough vetting of the candidates before they are deployed to their new work stations.

The Teachers Service commission (TSC) sub-county directors are responsible for inviting the candidates listed by the County Director to verify their documents.

During the verification process, the candidates are required to present the original and a copy of their degree or diploma certificate, academic transcripts, SNE qualification (if applicable), KCSE certificate or its equivalent, a copy of their current payslip, and a declaration by the Head of Institution that they are currently serving in the school and are not undergoing any disciplinary process.

The purpose of this vetting process is to ensure that the primary school teachers being deployed to junior secondary schools meet the minimum requirements for the job. It is also meant to weed out those who may have acquired their teaching qualifications through illegitimate means.

Deploying primary school teachers to junior secondary schools is a move that has been long overdue in the Kenyan education system. This is because junior secondary schools have been experiencing a shortage of qualified teachers, leading to a decline in the quality of education offered to students.

The government’s decision to deploy primary school teachers to junior secondary schools is therefore a welcome move, as it will help to address the shortage of teachers in these schools.

It will also help to bridge the gap between primary and secondary education by ensuring that students receive a solid foundation in their early years of education.

In conclusion, the vetting process for the deployment of primary school teachers to junior secondary schools is an important step in ensuring that only qualified and competent teachers are deployed to these schools.

This move is expected to improve the quality of education in junior secondary schools and bridge the gap between primary and secondary education in Kenya.
