KUCCPS Opens Applications for OUK Courses; How to Apply

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) is now accepting enrollment applications for five Open University courses.

The application period, which began on Friday, September 15, is open to all Kenyans who have at least taken the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations or completed other courses.

Additionally, they must possess a minimum of two (2) principal passes in the KCSE English and Mathematics examinations, among other subjects.

To apply, applicants must visit the KUCCPS website and create an account. They are then required to submit their academic transcripts, KCSE certificate, and other supporting documents.

A Bachelor of Technology Education costs approximately Ksh115,000 per year, while a Bachelor of Economics and Statistics costs Ksh105,000 per year. These are two of the five courses listed on the KUCCPS portal.

KUCCPS also lists a Bachelor of Business and Entrepreneurship, a Bachelor of Data Science, and a Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics for Ksh 105,000 annually.

The selected applicants will enroll at the Open University of Kenya (OU). The Open University (OU) is a distance-learning institution that offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses.

Credentialed instructors are in charge of teaching the courses, and print, audio, and video course materials are all available.

Here are the procedures for submitting an application for Open University Courses on KUCCPS:

  • Log into your account and select the “Apply for Courses” tab.
  • Select the option labeled “Open University Courses.”
  • Select the program you wish to enroll in.
  • Upload your academic transcripts, KCSE certificate, and other supporting materials.
  • Select the “Submit Application” option.

The minimum entry requirements for Bachelor’s degree programs t Open University of Kenya include:

  1. Attaining a mean grade of C+ or higher at KCSE, or an equivalent qualification as determined by the university senate.
  2. Holding diplomas or professional qualifications from recognized institutions.
  3. Possessing a KCSE certificate or its equivalent along with a certificate of completion from recognized foundation or bridging courses.
  4. Holding a Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education with at least one principal and one subsidiary pass.
  5. Possessing a bachelor’s degree from an institution recognized by the university senate.
  6. Providing evidence of a KCSE certificate or its equivalent, along with a portfolio for assessing prior learning, which may include:
    • Two years of workplace training.
    • Two years of work experience in a relevant field.
    • Completion of two short courses, each lasting a minimum of three months, in relevant fields.
    • Any other qualifications that the university Senate deems equivalent to the specified criteria, experience, and skills of the learners.
