Increased TSC Salary and Allowances for Lecturers, Primary, SNE, Secondary and Senior Teachers (GRADE C2 – T SCALE 7)
In a recent development, the Kenyan government has announced changes in the salary structure for Secondary Teacher II, Lecturer II, and Special Needs Teacher (Primary/Senior Teacher II).
According to the signed CBA, the basic pay of teachers at Teacher Grade C2 (the entry level for graduate teachers) will increase by up to Sh4,164, those at C3 will receive an increase of Sh5,141, and those at DS will receive an increase of Sh4,883.
These revisions will impact educators across the country, offering some respite and financial improvements in their careers.

Allowances for Grade C2: T Scale 7 Teachers
In addition to the revised basic salaries, educators will also benefit from several allowances, aimed at addressing specific needs and challenges they face in their roles.
- Hardship Allowance: Educators under Grade C2 and T Scale 7 will receive a Hardship Allowance as follows: 10,900 KES.
- Commuter Allowance: To help teachers with their daily commuting expenses, they will be entitled to a commuting Allowance of 5,000 KES.
- Annual Leave Allowance: This allowance, amounting to 6,000 KES, recognizes the importance of teachers taking breaks and recharging during annual leave.
- Disability Guide Allowance: A significant addition to the allowances is the Disability Guide Allowance, amounting to a substantial 20,000 KES. This allowance is designed to provide extra support for educators who work with students with disabilities, acknowledging the unique challenges they face.
