56,000 Recruited Teachers to Undergo CBC Retraining, TSC says
This year, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will retrain (retool) approximately 56,000 teachers to ensure compliance with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
The exercise will span eight days, beginning on Friday, October 6, and ending on Friday, October 13, 2023.
In the context of education, retooling is a procedure designed to increase teachers’ professional knowledge and skills in order to enhance students’ learning.

The Chief Executive Officer of the TSC, Nancy Macharia, has praised the teachers who have participated in the exercise to ensure CBC compliance and continue with their regular school programs.
Macharia spoke at the Kenya School of Government in Nairobi on World Teachers’ Day.
Macharia stated that the Commission is celebrating pre-primary and primary schoolteachers who have embraced the implementation of CBC and are dedicatedly aiding Kenyan learners in acquiring the required core competencies and values.

In addition, the commission reports that the TSC has begun vetting instructors who will serve as supervisors and invigilators for the national examinations in 2023.
Already, TSC has vetted 223,223 teachers who will serve as supervisors and invigilators, as well as 37,731 teachers who will administer exams.
Macharia emphasized the importance of celebrating teachers for their outstanding guidance provided to all candidates for crucial national examinations.
