107 TVETs Equipped With Virtual Desktop Infrastructures (VDIs)

Dr. Esther Thaara Muoria, PhD, Principal Secretary of the State Department for Technical, Vocational Education and Training, expressed her pleasure in officiating the launch of the Jitume Digital Enablement Training of Trainers Programme Cohort 1 at the Kenya School of TVET.

Under the Jitume Digital Enablement Initiative, over 107 TVET institutions have been provided with virtual desktop infrastructures (VDIs) with the support of the State Department for ICT and Digital Economy. Launched in December 2022, this initiative aims to offer digital skills, e-services, and online opportunities to young people across the country.

Dr. Muoria urged all trainers to actively participate in the workshop, emphasizing the transformative potential of digital technology in advancing various sectors of the economy.

During her engagements, Dr. Muoria held consultative discussions with a team from AHK Services, led by Esther Ndichu, Senior Project Manager for Vocational Education, and Caleb Kiprotich, Project Manager for TVET.

Discussions focused on topics such as the marketing and communications strategy for dual training in Kenya and the role of the Dual TVET inclusive website as a communication platform.

Recognizing the pivotal role of governance in TVET institutions, Dr. Muoria also participated in the induction of the Boards of Governors of several TVET colleges, including Samburu East, Tigania East, Mbeere North, North Horr, and Kirinyaga Central.

She emphasized that the role of these boards goes beyond symbolism, urging active participation, strategic thinking, and commitment to common goals.

Dr. Muoria encouraged board members to foster an environment of open dialogue, facilitating the exchange of ideas and informed decision-making. She emphasized the importance of accountability and transparency in achieving the objectives of TVET institutions.

The launch of the Jitume Digital Enablement Training of Trainers Programme Cohort 1 and the induction of Boards of Governors mark significant milestones in the efforts to strengthen the TVET sector and promote digital literacy for sustainable development in Kenya.
