7 KCSE Officials Under Probe Over Exam Malpractice in Wajir; Candidates’ Phones Recovered.
After instances of cheating were discovered at Eldas Boys Secondary School in Wajir County during the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations, seven officials are being investigated by police.
At 12:30 p.m., detectives from the Eldas Police Station received information and visited the classroom where the first Chemistry exam was being administered.
After the examination was over, the officers performed a search of the examination room and discovered three mobile phones in the lockers.
Three applicants’ Samsung, Oppo, and Techno mobile phones were recovered. Additionally, the mobile phones of examination authorities were confiscated.
Two police officers had their phones confiscated as well.
“All the phones are kept as exhibits waiting to be taken for analysis. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) at Eldas police station is probing the matter,” a police signal read in part.
