KMTC Secures Top Spot in Latest Webometrics Rankings, Beats Renowned Universities

KMTC, Kenya’s premier tertiary institution, has secured the top spot in the latest Webometrics Ranking of World Universities 2024, according to a report by Webometrics.

Ranked third overall, KMTC joins Kenya Forestry Research Institute and Kenya School of Government in the top positions.

In comparison with universities, The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) impressively holds the 43rd position, surpassing renowned institutions such as Africa Nazarene University, Multimedia University of Kenya, and KCA University.

The University of Nairobi leads the rankings, followed by Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and Kenyatta University.

Dr. Kelly Oluoch, CEO of KMTC, upon receiving the results, expressed appreciation for the ranking, emphasizing its reflection of the College’s commitment to excellence in medical education and training.

Dr. Oluoch stated, in response to the achievement, that securing the third position overall highlights the dedication of KMTC’s staff and students, solidifying its status as a leading institution in the country.

He added that this milestone not only underscores the institution’s dedication to academic excellence but also highlights its global impact and influence.

Furthermore, Dr. Oluoch reiterated the College’s commitment to shaping the future of healthcare professionals and advancing medical education in Kenya and beyond.

The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, also known as Ranking Web of Universities, evaluates universities globally based on a composite indicator considering web content volume and visibility.

Published by the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Madrid, the ranking aims to enhance the online presence of academic and research institutions and promote open-access publication of scientific results.

Since its commencement in 2004, the ranking is regularly updated in January and July and offers web indicators for over 31,000 universities worldwide.
