Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo confirmed the incident, revealing that Mrs. Okoth had initially realized her daughter was missing before the grim discovery.
According to Kimaiyo, preliminary investigations unveiled that, on the night before her tragic end, Vera had discussed her joblessness with her mother.
Frustrated after numerous unsuccessful job applications—over 500, to be exact—and witnessing her mother’s ongoing struggles to support her, Vera chose a devastating path.
Despite the absence of a suicide note, the certificates left meticulously on her bed became a silent testimony to her despair.
