Tigoi Girls Target National Basketball Honors in Secondary School Games Competition.
Kenneth Egovwa, head coach of the Tigoi Girls, has set his sights on the national title after his team won the Western Region Secondary Schools Games championship last weekend in Kakamega.
Tigoi successfully defended their regional title by defeating Butere Girls 71-63 in the championship game held at St. Peters Mumias, Kakamega County.
“We look forward to winning the championship which we last won in 2011. Covid-19 pandemic really affected our preparations in these games because we did not get enough time to train with the tough school calendar but we promise to fight and win this title,” Egovwa said.
Egovwa anticipates stiff competition from the coastal titans Kaya Tiwi and Loreto Limuru Girls.
Tigers, or Tigoi, won all of their matches en route to the national championship.
The Kenya National Secondary School Term Two Games will be held at various locations in Nakuru County from September 8 to 11.
