Opiyo Wandayi Alleges Possibility of Errors in KCSE Results
On Saturday, Opiyo Wandayi, the Minority Leader in the National Assembly, asserted that the impending announcement of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam results may be marred by inaccuracies.
Wandayi informed the press that inaccuracies, akin to the issues faced in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results, could potentially taint the upcoming Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam results.
Wandayi raised concerns about potential challenges in the upcoming KCSE, emphasizing that addressing the issues surrounding the mishandling of the last KCPE is crucial. He expressed apprehension, warning of a possible recurrence or even worsening of the situation if the issues are not handled appropriately.

Wandayi, who slammed Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu and the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) chaired by Professor Julius Nyabundi, urged KNEC to resolve the issues that led to the mismanagement of the KCPE exam results as soon as possible.
The Ugunja Member of Parliament further cautioned that failure to correct the faults could cause future problems for students and potentially the examination body.
The MP also expressed concern in his remarks about the purported existence of cartels inside the Ministry of Education and KNEC.
He questioned the criteria utilized to select the company that would print the examination papers.
“These cartels must be stopped because if they are not stopped, the future of our education will be thrown in jeopardy,” Wandayi went on to say.

Wandayi’s comments came in the wake of CS Machogu’s remarks defending the authenticity of the KCPE tests.
During his presentation to Parliament’s Education Committee on Thursday, Machogu attributed the issues with the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam to a contracted company responsible for managing the QR code used to send the results.
Despite acknowledging mistakes, Machogu disputed ODM leader Raila Odinga’s assertions that KNEC granted the tender to print the examinations to a local company.
“As a CS, I have learned lessons because you can see as a ministry, everything was right. Somebody we can call an outsider was given the contract but did not conform and do it to the required standard,” Machogu denoted.
