Alupe University Welcomes Dr. Virginia Wamuyu Kimani as New Chancellor
At the second graduation ceremony held at Alupe University‘s premises in Busia, Dr. Virginia Wamuyu Kimani assumed the role of the new chancellor. The event saw the conferment of degrees upon 158 students, with six individuals receiving certificates across five departments.
While speaking at the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Professor Peter Barasa commended Kimani as a tremendous supporter of the system who has aided in the change of Alupe University.

Kenneth Akide, Senior Council, put light on the legal component of the Chancellor’s job, formalizing the transfer of responsibility.
The Alupe University Council expressed satisfaction with the university’s progress in development and research, acknowledging the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof Baraza for significant strides in goal achievement.

According to the Universities Act 2012 and the Alupe University Charter, the Chair of the Council is automatically converted to the Chancellor, with the authority to confer degrees, diplomas, and certificates.
The newly appointed Chancellor, Kimani, pledged to ensure prudent use of resources allocated by the national and county governments.

The university’s management, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Baraza, is making substantial progress in achieving the vision of becoming a center of academic excellence and establishing a niche in the sciences.
