KUPPET Wants CS Machogu to Address Form One Selection Mess

Akelo Misori, the Secretary General of the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), has urged Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu to rectify the alleged mess in the selection of form one students.

Misori claims that some parents are now dissatisfied with the process. Expressing concern in Miyuga village, Karachuonyo Constituency, Misori pointed out the errors in the Ministry of Education’s selection process.

Misori stated that these mistakes need correction to ensure that students are admitted to schools of their choice. The SG further stated that KUPPET has received numerous complaints from parents of affected KCPE candidates about the shambles surrounding the selection process.

The unionist asserted that the Ministry of Education assigned most pupils to schools they did not choose, and some were placed in distance day schools, hindering their enrollment in form one next year.

Misori urged CS Machogu to promptly address the issue so that the students could have the opportunity to join secondary schools of their choice before it becomes too late.

Misori, on the other hand, encouraged the teachers at the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to hire additional teachers at Junior Secondary schools, which he claims are understaffed, harming educational quality.

He also warned that Junior Secondary schools continue to suffer infrastructural issues that, if not solved in a timely manner, may jeopardize learning in such schools.
