KNEC Issues New Directive for 4,700 KCSE, KCPE Uncollected Certificates; How to Access

On March 10th, the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) issued a directive that will affect approximately 4,700 individuals who have not collected their certificates.

The certificates date back to 2001 and belong to individuals who sat for the Kenya Certificate for Secondary Education (KCSE) and Kenya Certificate for Primary Education (KCPE).

KNEC has urged those whose names appear on the two lists to trade in their faulty certificates for new ones. The certificates are faulty due to either printing errors or the certificates being lost.

KNEC has published a list of 1,920 uncollected KCPE certificates and 2,841 uncollected KCSE certificates.

Those seeking to access the list of KCPE certificates can visit knec.ac.ke/2023/03/10/kcpe-uncollected-certificates, while those looking for the full KCSE list can visit knec.ac.ke/2023/03/10/kcse-uncollected-certificates.

For individuals who have lost their certificates, KNEC has a Query Management Information Systems (QMIS) platform, which allows for online submissions and processing of queries relating to examination results.

This platform also handles confirmation of examination results, equation of foreign qualifications, biodata amendments, direct recoveries for KCSE/KCPE result slips, certificates, and result printouts, as well as results marks queries.

Candidates can register for the QMIS system online on the KNEC website and fill in all the required information. KNEC warns that usernames and passwords are confidential and should not be disclosed to third parties.

The functions of KNEC are outlined in Section 10 of KNEC Act No. 29 of 2012. Some of the functions include setting and maintaining examination standards, conducting research on educational assessments, and awarding certificates or diplomas to candidates in such examinations.

It is important for individuals who have not collected their certificates to follow the KNEC directive and trade in their faulty certificates for new ones.

This will ensure that they have the necessary documentation to prove their educational qualifications. Additionally, individuals who have lost their certificates can take advantage of the QMIS platform to recover their documents.
