KNEC Warns Schools, Gives Grade Six Exams Registration Deadline

The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has announced the start of the registration of Grade Six students for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA).

The registration exercise commenced on March 3 and will end on April 3, 2023, with no extension being offered by the government. Parents and teachers are being advised to ensure that student details are captured accurately during the online registration process through the KNEC portal.

To register, the learner’s assessment number, name as recorded on their birth certificate, gender, and year of birth, among other details, are required.

School managers have been warned against registering ghost students, with KNEC issuing strict consequences, including the de-registration of a school as a KNEC Assessment centre, for any school that registers ghost learners.

The details of registered students must be submitted by April 5 to the Sub-County Directors of Education for verification before being forwarded to KNEC.

The registration exercise will include Grade Six students, who will be assessed alongside Standard Eight and Form Four students later in the year.

The Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) is a national assessment of primary school students that measures their proficiency in languages, mathematics, and science.

This examination aims to assess the effectiveness of the primary school education system and to provide feedback to the government and stakeholders on the areas that need improvement.

The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) is the agency responsible for overseeing the administration of the KPSEA and other national examinations in Kenya.

KNEC works with schools and educational institutions to ensure the smooth and efficient administration of examinations and the accurate assessment of student performance.

Overall, the registration of Grade Six students for the KPSEA is a critical step in ensuring the effective assessment of primary school students in Kenya.

By ensuring that all student details are captured accurately and no ghost students are registered, KNEC can accurately measure the effectiveness of the primary school education system and provide feedback to the government and stakeholders on how to improve it.
