Form One Student’s Death at Riokindo Boys School Raises Concerns
The family of a resident from Bomachoge, Kisii County, is seeking clarification after their relative passed away under uncertain circumstances just three weeks after enrolling at Riokindo Boys High School.
According to Brian Otara’s father, Evans Otara, the school contacted him to report that his son was feeling unwell and had been taken to a nearby dispensary. Despite being unavailable at the time, he instructed his wife to visit the school.

Upon arrival at the dispensary, Brian’s mother, Evaline Otara, found her son in a serious condition, experiencing difficulty breathing and suffering from a high fever, which caused excessive sweating.
An autopsy conducted on Brian’s body attributed his death to a stomach infection, but the family remains dissatisfied with the school’s handling of the medical emergency. They assert that despite Brian informing the school of his illness days earlier, they were only informed of his sickness hours before his demise.
