County & Subcounty Education Directors to Get Patrol Vehicles — Machogu
County and subcounty directors of education will soon receive new vehicles to assist them in their crucial task of inspecting schools, according to Education CS Ezekiel Machogu.
Speaking during a session of the Senate, Machogu emphasized that the lack of vehicles has been a significant challenge for education officers in enforcing safety measures and guidelines across schools within their jurisdiction.
To address this issue, the ministry has made the decision to provide each director with a vehicle, enabling them to effectively carry out school inspections.
The decision to provide vehicles to education directors was made in response to a question raised by Marsabit Senator Chute Mohamed.
The senator inquired about the measures put in place by the ministry to prevent tragedies similar to the one that occurred at Mukumu Girls High School, where multiple lives were lost.
Expressing concern over the focus on a single school, Senator Mohamed urged the CS to shed light on the measures implemented to ensure the overall safety of all schools and prevent future incidents like the one at Mukumu Girls.
In his response, Machogu referred to the Safety Standards Manual for Schools in Kenya, which will be utilized by the ministry to guarantee the safety of students.
The manual serves as a comprehensive guide, providing directives on maintaining safety and health conditions within the school environment.
By strictly adhering to the guidelines outlined in the manual, the ministry aims to prevent tragic incidents and ensure that all schools maintain a high standard of safety.
Ensuring the safety of students is a top priority for the Ministry of Education, and the provision of vehicles to county and subcounty directors is just one step towards achieving this goal.
These vehicles will enable education officers to conduct regular and thorough inspections of schools, identify potential hazards, and address them promptly.
By doing so, they can mitigate risks and create a safer learning environment for students across the country.
