Two Dorms Razed By Fire At Sameta Primary Boarding
A mysterious fire destroyed two dormitories at Kisii’s Sameta Primary School.
No pupils were hurt, but property worth millions of shillings was destroyed.
The 82 pupils who slept in the affected dorms escaped the Monday night incident unscathed.
When journalists visited the school, headteacher Ibrahim Ondati refused to speculate on the possible cause of the fire.
He was not present when the fire started at 7 p.m. on Monday.
He directed journalists to the director of education’s office for more information.
Parents who were distraught said they received distress calls about the school fire.

“Everything on sight is leaked up by the fire as you can see. It is a big loss but we are happy our children are safe,” said one mother to a standard 7 pupil.
When journalists arrived Tuesday afternoon, they found burned boxes and books outside dormitories.
Some parents were seen driving away from the scene with their children.

Muroki Muyuri, Deputy County Commissioner in Sameta, said it was fortunate that no students were injured in the incident.
They are, however, looking into arson.
He claimed that the fire started because there was no power at the school.
“Already officers from the DCI have visited the scene and will act on the report they will give us,” he said.
