Police Officers Fundraise Ksh.200,000 To Needy Student Who Scored 403 Marks In KCPE
Police in Machakos County have stepped in to help a needy boy who reported to secondary school without paying fees or meeting other requirements despite scoring 403 points in last year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams.
The officers, led by Commander Issa Muhammud, organized a fundraising event for the boy, Simon Muthama Nzioki, on Wednesday, which resulted in the collection of approximately Ksh.200,000 to cover the boy’s school fees and other school-related expenses for the next four years.
Nzioki had a chance encounter with Machakos Police Station OCS Mohammed Ali when he reported to Machakos Boys with his grandfather.
As a parent with children at the same school, Ali was so moved by Nzioki’s unwavering pursuit of knowledge that he bought him a school box when they first met. The OCS would later refer the issue to Muhammud, who would organize the fundraising.
Nzioki was given receipts confirming that Ksh.180,000 had been used to pay his four-year school fees on Wednesday.
As part of our social responsibility, the National Police Service in Machakos held a fundraising event for a needy boy who scored 403 points in the KCPE but is disadvantaged because he comes from a poor family.

“We do not only deal with crime. We are also compassionate and we assist the society in one way or the other. This is one of the ways.” Muhammad explained.
Muhammad also stated that the Machakos police department will now cater to the boy’s educational needs, including transportation to and from the institution on opening and closing days.
This comes barely a week after two form one students were taken to school by police officers who contributed money to their secondary school admissions.
