President Ruto Addresses Uproar School Fee Payments via eCitizen

President William Ruto has emphasized the government’s determination to prevent corruption cartels from obstructing the digitization of government services.

Speaking during a meeting with Kenyans residing in Japan, he underscored the government’s commitment to completing the transition to a digital payment system to curb corruption and the misappropriation of government resources.

He highlighted the effectiveness of consolidating over 3,000 PayBill numbers into one, which has facilitated revenue monitoring and minimized theft.

President Ruto reported that the implementation of a new policy mandating school fees payments through eCitizen, the government’s digital platform, aims to eradicate unauthorized levies imposed by certain schools.

He emphasized the importance of technology in eliminating corruption, stating that cash payment systems often serve as avenues for malpractice.

In addition to domestic efforts, President Ruto highlighted the accessibility of government services for Kenyans living abroad through eCitizen.

He emphasized the significant demand for Kenyan skills internationally, citing testimonials from companies that have hired Kenyan professionals.

Furthermore, President Ruto outlined the government’s initiatives to support skilled youth, both domestically and internationally, recognizing the substantial contributions they make to the country’s economic development.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing diaspora services, including the establishment of mobile consular services for easier access to assistance.

Echoing President Ruto’s sentiments, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi emphasized the government’s dedication to collaborating with Kenyans abroad, as evidenced by the establishment of the State Department for Diaspora Affairs.
