eCitizen Platform: KRA Issues New Directive to Taxpayers
Following a directive from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), all taxes paid via mobile money must be remitted via government pay bill 222222.
KRA explained in a Friday statement that the modification was implemented in response to President William Ruto’s directive to streamline government revenue collection.
The taxman declared that the directive would be implemented without delay.
Taxpayers have been asked to use the Payment Registration Number (PRN) or the Ref. number on the Payment Slips produced from KRA Business Systems such as iTax, ICMS, EGMS, and KESRA IStudent when initiating tax payments through mobile money.

The portion of the statement that read, “Please contact our Contact Centre for further information.”
To communicate with KRA officials, Kenyans may dial 0711-099-999 or 020-4-999-999. Additionally, inquiries may be directed to the KRA correspondence at [email protected].
Payment procedures for mobile money platforms;
- Enter 222222 as the PayBill number
- Input the payment registration number (PRN) in the account number field.
- Enter the amount specified on the PRN
- Enter and transmit your PIN

Conversely, the Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) *222# may be used.
- Dial *222#
- Select the option Pay KRA bill
- Enter the PRN number of the E-slip
- Choose M-Pesa as the mode of payment
- Enter your M-Pesa PIN and proceed with the remaining steps.
