The government’s decision to reinstate school-fee-covering bursaries brought solace to parents and guardians.
Attorney General Justin Muturi instructed the Treasury to release the National Government Constituency Development Fund in a letter seen by Kenyans.co.ke (NG-CDF).
Several members of Parliament (MPs) reported receiving exchequer payments and pushed their people to seek for the assistance.
“A polite reminder for my people from Nyali. Please come and collect the bursary application forms so that we can plan for our children,” Nyali MP Mohammed Ali stated.
Samuel Arama, the part for Nakuru Town West, stated that he would use a part of the schools to fund the construction of school infrastructure.
Arama noted that the change will prevent parents from being required to pay more funds for school infrastructure development.
Legislators indicated that, for the first payout, priority would be given to students returning to school on January 23, while Form One students would have to wait until the second disbursement.
The bursary application forms are available in the constituency and chief’s offices.
Students are required to present a copy of their parents’ national identification cards, evidence of enrollment to an educational institution, and a fee schedule.
Prior to the decision, parents were in limbo as a result of the government’s announcement that it would withhold assistance cushioning parents during the pandemic.
Ezekiel Machogu, cabinet secretary for education, denied rumors that the cost will be hiked and clarified that parents would continue to pay the same amount as previously.
The 2.4 million students who took the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment are anticipated to enroll in schools (KPSEA)
