Parents Protest as Pupil Allegedly Drowns in School Swimming pool
The administration of Kimathi Primary School in Nairobi’s Kimathi Estate is on the scene following the alleged death of a pupil in the school’s swimming pool.
Parents and guardians protested the death of 12-year-old Handas Kanyora, a Grade 6 student, on the school grounds on Monday.
Scholastica Nyambura, the pupil’s mother, stated that the school administration had contacted her following the demise of her son.
Two days after not eating, Nyambura got information that her son had fallen into the swimming pool.

The visit of NTV to the school was unwelcome. Mr. Abubakar, the school’s principal, did not wish to be filmed or quoted.
Abubakar asserts that no pupil drowned in the school’s swimming pool and referred additional questions to the Ministry of Education’s chain of command.
When the headmaster was asked about the protesting parents, he dismissed them as drunkards.
He claimed that the child had perished outside the school grounds, and he asserted that the protesters were demonstrating with the hope of receiving bribes from the school administration.
Voids in the stories leading up to Kanyora’s demise seem to exist, as a sign at the school’s entrance indicates a temporary suspension of swimming.
