NUSA to Connect University Graduates to Job Markets
To strengthen connections with potential employers after school, the new Narok University Student’s Association (NUSA) leadership has pledged to unite all tertiary-level students in the county.
According to NUSA Secretary General Nampayo Kaleke, the students come from all of the county’s ethnic groups and have united to improve their standard of living.
Kaleke stated that the organization would approach influential people in the county and nation to seek employment opportunities for its members in various fields.
Additionally, the secretary general reaffirmed that they would seek bursaries and sponsorship for the neediest students so that no one would be forced to postpone or drop out of school due to a lack of funds.
He thanked his fellow students for electing him to the office and promised to make the organization more relevant by establishing more links to the job markets.
The group’s new treasurer, Ms. Lamelock Nana, echoed his sentiments, stating that investment forums will be held to encourage young students to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities in addition to white-collar employment.
“We want to see the young graduates doing something productive even after school. We do not want to see a scenario where young graduates commit suicide, engage in drugs and early marriages because of frustrations,” she said.
James Nakola, the Director of Youth for the Narok County Government, praised the youth for uniting for a noble cause.
He urged the youths to organize several forums to unite them, such as sports, entertainment, and motivational speeches.
Nakola stated that he would actively involve youths in national sporting events held at the William Ole Ntimama Stadium to develop their talents and maintain their interest.
Douglas Tanyea, a representative from the governor’s office, reaffirmed that Narok Governor Patrick Ntututu was willing to assist the students. Still, he urged them to remain organized and focused on their studies at all times.
They spoke today at William Ole Ntimama stadium during their first meeting since being elected to office in March of this year.
