North-Eastern Region to Receive More in TSC’s 1,625 Teachers Recruitment
In an effort to address educational disparities and improve the quality of education in North-Eastern regions, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced a new recruitment initiative targeting 1,625 teachers.
The recruitment drive aims to fill various positions, including principals, deputy principals, senior teachers, and subject-specific educators in both regular and Special Needs Education (SNE) schools.
The TSC’s recruitment initiative encompasses a wide range of teaching positions.
Successful candidates will be offered permanent, pensionable, contractual terms, or internships, depending on their qualifications and experience.
Among the positions being filled, 349 slots are designated for principals in regular schools, with an additional 11 positions for Special Needs Education.
The recruitment also includes nine Deputy Principals I, nine Deputy Principals II, and 363 vacancies for teachers in regular schools.
Similarly, 13 positions for both Deputy Principal III and 13 positions for teachers are allocated to Special Needs Education.
Furthermore, the TSC plans to hire 328 intern teachers for Junior Secondary Schools, 88 primary school teachers on contract, and 86 high school teachers on a contract basis.
Additionally, seven permanent and pensionable positions for high school teachers will be filled.
Allocation of Positions
One notable aspect of this recruitment drive is the emphasis placed on the North-Eastern regions.
With a total of 170 positions, North Eastern is set to receive the highest number of teachers.
Garissa County is expected to receive 36 teachers, while Wajir will receive 55.
Other regions benefiting from this initiative include Rift Valley, which will receive 15 teachers, and Eastern, which will receive 57 intern teachers for Junior Secondary Schools.
The TSC will allocate all 86 contracted high school teachers, as well as the seven permanent and pensionable positions, to the North-Eastern region.
Additionally, Rift Valley will receive 17 teachers on a permanent and pensionable basis, while Eastern and Nyanza will receive nine and eight teachers, respectively.
Central, Western, and Coast regions will each receive one teacher.
The decision to prioritize the recruitment of teachers in North-Eastern regions is commendable, as these areas have historically faced challenges in providing quality education.
By increasing the number of educators in these regions, the TSC aims to bridge the educational gap and create better learning environments for students.
The presence of qualified and dedicated teachers is crucial for improving academic outcomes and nurturing the intellectual development of students.
This recruitment initiative will not only enhance access to education but also contribute to the overall advancement of the North-Eastern regions.
Expansion in ASAL Areas
In addition to the efforts in the North-Eastern regions, the TSC has also recognized the need to strengthen education in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL) areas.
As part of this recruitment process, the TSC will hire 105 teachers, including 26 senior masters, 10 senior teachers, and 69 deputy headteachers, specifically for ASAL areas.
This expansion aims to address the unique challenges faced by schools in these regions and ensure that students in ASAL areas receive quality education comparable to other parts of the country.
The TSC’s new recruitment initiative targeting 1,625 teachers signifies a step towards improving education in North-Eastern regions and ASAL areas.
