Missing Pupil Found Dead in School
Police in Mbita are investigating the death of a 9-year-old boy, whose body was found hanging from a tree in a school compound in Suba North constituency, Kenya. The boy had been missing for eight days before his body was discovered.
The body was found by some children, including the deceased’s sibling, who had been playing in the school compound. The police have not yet established the cause of the death, and it is unclear whether it was a suicide or murder. The boy was a grade-three pupil at Anointed Vessels Academy, which is the nearest school to where his body was found.
The police officer in charge of Mbita, Phoebe Mwanzi, has said that they have intensified investigations to establish the cause of the boy’s death. The police have called for calm, and the boy’s parents have already recorded statements over the matter. An autopsy exercise will be done to determine the cause of death, and the postmortem results will be shared with the parents once they are available.
Eyewitnesses said the rope was tied around the boy’s neck. His parents had not quarreled with him, and they did not have any beef with their neighbors before his disappearance.
The manner in which the boy died raised a lot of suspicions, and it is not yet clear what caused his death. The boy disappeared when both his parents went to a funeral, and his elder sister, who was with him, went to a nearby market to buy food.
The body was found hanging on a tree behind a latrine in the school compound. The school is called Ramba primary school, and it is in Mfangano North Location. The administrator said that the manner in which the boy died raised a lot of suspicions since he had not disagreed with his parents.
The police are appealing to residents with information about the cause of death to report it to aid their investigations. The body has been moved to Kirindo mortuary in the Suba North constituency.
