At least 200 Form Four students have enrolled in Busia for teacher training thanks to sponsorship from the county’s MCAs.

In each of the seven wards, the 200 will receive tuition fees directly from the ward development fund.

Those who are sponsored will study at the Busia Teachers Training College.

Students from Malaba Central Ward, Amukura South, Chakol North, and Bukhayo South are among those present.

They come from Bwiri Ward, Nambuku/Namboboto, and Bunyala North as well.

Makokha believes that if the program is expanded, it will help raise the educational standards of Busia residents as more students enroll in college.

He was speaking after Malaba Central MCA Benard Papa presented him with ten students.

Tuition and other living expenses for the students have been paid in full.

“I would like to sincerely thank the MCAs of Busia for the cooperation they have extended to Busia Teachers Training College by supporting students. This is the way to go as a community and we will fully support that kind of engagement,” Makokha said.

Papa stated that his leadership will advocate for youth training in the ward.

Aside from the ten students chosen to attend Busia Teachers Training College, the MCA stated that his office is also sponsoring 100 youth to take driving lessons. Following the training, the youth will be issued driver’s licenses.
