Man Arrested For ‘Impregnating’ Mentally Handicapped Schoolgirl.

Police are holding a man suspected of defiling and impregnating a 16-year-old mentally handicapped schoolgirl with mental retardation in Kabumbu village, Kirinyaga County.

The 41-year-old fugitive was flushed out of his hiding on Monday and is currently being questioned at the Kerugoya Police Station.

The man allegedly enticed the youngster late last year and molested her sexually before fleeing.

John Tori, chief of police for the Kirinyaga Central sub-county, stated that officers had been searching for the culprit since April when the family reported the incident.

“The suspect escaped soon after he defiled the girl, but officers acting on a tip-off found him hiding in Karia village and seized him,” Mr. Torori said.

The culprit will face defilement charges.

The girl’s teacher, Pauline Wanjohi, expressed deep concern over the situation.

She grieved that the girl from a disadvantaged family had given birth.

Ms. Wanjohi stated, “I learned the girl was pregnant in April of this year, and I have been caring for her because her parents are both mentally challenged and impoverished.”

The girl’s grandmother stated that the suspect used Sh50 to entice her granddaughter.

“On her way to school, the suspect would offer my granddaughter Sh50 and then molest her,” she added.

She pleaded with the police to do right by her grandchild.

Policeman denies defiling a minor at Kiganjo National Police College.

A police officer was released on Sh300,000 bail after denying molesting a half-year-old child.

On May 9, Silvester Kirwa, affiliated with Kiganjo National Police College in Nyeri, was accused of molesting a juvenile.

The culprit was accused of purposefully and illegally touching the minor’s private regions.

The defendant rejected the charges in front of Resident Magistrate Mercyline Lubia.

Through his lawyer, Njuguna Kimari, he asked to be released on bail. Attorney Njuguna informed the court that despite the suspect’s affiliation with Kiganjo National Police College, he is originally from Eldoret.

This, according to him, does not render the accused a flight risk, as he was willing to pay a cash bail of Sh100,000 with a police officer willing to deposit his passport as collateral.

Magistrate Lubia denied the motion in her judgment and ordered the defendant to post an Sh300,000 bond, a comparable surety, or an Sh200,000 cash bail.

Mr. Kirwa was taken into custody on September 8. He is accused of molesting the child of a neighbor in college.

The court will discuss the case on September 26.
