Kodris Africa Gives Full Scholarship to Top Best KCPE Candidate, Robinson Fwaro Makokha.
Education Technologies company Kodris Africa has granted a full secondary school scholarship to Robinson Fwaro Makokha, the top KCPE candidate.
Fwaro was one of the two pupils with the highest Kenya Certificate of Primary Education score (431 marks) in 2022. Lewis Otieno was the other.
Fwaro, a former student at Bungoma’s Christ the King Primary School, scored 431 marks and aspires to become a software engineer in the future.
For the four years that he will be in secondary school, Kodris Africa will cover all school tuition, coding licenses, and appropriate tools, including a laptop.
“We saw on the news that Fwaro would like to become a software engineer. The skill that takes him there is coding, and we want to set him on a firm footing towards achieving his dreams.
“Coding is one of the most sought-after skills in the world today, and Fwaro is setting the pace,” Kodris CEO Mugumo Munene said.
Kodris Africa is a platform designed to teach coding to primary and secondary school pupils.
The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development has approved it as curriculum support material.
The company has formed partnerships with Safaricom, KCB Group, and Equity Bank so that parents can buy coding licenses for their children.
A license includes student materials and a year’s worth of coding instruction.
Numerous nations, including the United States, China, England, Germany, and France, have already made coding mandatory for first-grade students.
Wednesday, the Kakamega County government announced that it would fund Lewis Otieno’s secondary education.
The County Government of Kakamega would pay for the secondary education of the top student, Otieno Lewis Omondi Glen, he announced on Wednesday.
Both top-scoring KCPE candidates attended schools in western Kenya.
