KNUT, KUPPET Congratulates Ruto, Promises To Support Him
Teachers’ unions congratulated Deputy President William Ruto on his election victory.
The Kenya National Union of Teachers and the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education have both congratulated Ruto on his election as president-elect.
Collins Oyuu, Secretary General of Knut, stated that the teachers union has endorsed Ruto in his election bid.
“On behalf of the Knut National Steering, National Executive Council, the 47 Knut County leadership, the 110 branches of Knut and all the teachers of Kenya to congratulate you on your win,” said Oyuu.
Oyuu stated that the president-elect demonstrated statesmanship in his acceptance speech, which has endeared him to teachers and won their hearts.
“As the Kenyan teachers, we look forward to seeing a united nation in your hands and a stronger administration that will prioritize education, the future of our children, and proper management of teachers’ labour matters,” Oyuu added.
Kuppet Secretary Akelo Misori congratulated Ruto and reaffirmed his union’s commitment to working with the government in the best interests of Kenyan teachers and the education sector.
Following the announcement by Azimio La Umoja Coalition Presidential candidate Raila Odinga that he would use all legal and constitutional means to challenge the 2022 presidential results, it is expected that he will petition the Supreme Court.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Mr. Odinga rejected the results that showed UDA Party candidate William Ruto was declared the winner, calling them null and void.
His running mate, Martha Karua, echoed his sentiments.
In his decision to declare Ruto as President-elect, he accused the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati of violating the Constitution and electoral laws.

According to the Supreme Court, the petition must be filed within seven days of the IEBC’s announcement of the results.
The petition will then be decided 14 days after it was filed.
Chief Justice Martha Koome, Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu, Justice William Ouko, Justice Mohammed Ibrahim, Justice (Dr.) Smokin Wanjala, Lady Justice Njoki Ndungu, and Justice Isaac Lenaola will preside over the hearing.
