In preparation for the summative administration of the E-assessment for the 2023 Upgrade Programme for the Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (UDPTE) Assessment, the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has published Supervision and invigilation guidelines for the UDPTE administered in July 2023.
The assessment will be administered electronically beginning on Monday, July 24, 2023, and concluding on Friday, July 28, 2023, per the online schedule.
On Friday, 21st 3uIy 2023, the assessment’s rehearsal for the assessment will occur.
During the rehearsal, the Centre Manager, ICT Tutor, and Supervisor will inspect the college’s ICT facilities and guide the candidates through the e-assessment administration requirements.
These consist of:
- Adequate number of Digital Learning Programme (DLP) devices that are fully charged and in excellent working condition;
- Availability of stable internet connectivity;
- Sitting arrangement according to KNEC regulation of 1.22 meters apart;
- Availability of uninterruptible power supply (UPS).
Before rehearsal, the ICT Tutor will coordinate with your office to ensure that all necessary ICT infrastructure is in place.
The ICT Tutor will remain onsite throughout the assessment period to provide technical support as needed.
They are prohibited from interacting directly with candidates in the absence of a supervisor.
KNEC will assign a Supervisor to your center to supervise the administration of the assessment.
Inspectors are required to observe the rehearsals. Principals of the college will identify and recruit them. During the identification and hiring of Invigilators, the following guidelines should be adhered to:
- One invigilator per twenty candidates must be identified.
- To obtain appointment letters, they must register with the CP2 System;
- Persons with honesty and high integrity.
You will be required to send the list of Invigilators and their registered mobile number to the si@knec.ac.ke email address for deployment after recruitment. The list must reach KNEC by July 14, 2023.
KNEC will appoint and deploy Supervisor(s) to supervise the effective administration of e-assessment in your center.
A minimum of 200 candidates will be overseen by one Supervisor. The supervisor and ICT Tutor will collaborate closely.
Please be aware that your presence will be crucial during the administration of the e-assessment to assure compliance with KNEC rules and regulations.
The duties of all officers involved in the e-assessment are included for your reference.
The Kenya National Examinations Council is grateful for your ongoing assistance with the administration of national examinations and assessments.
