Training for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examiners will be conducted by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).

The training will occur between August 13-19, 2023, according to a notice released on Tuesday.

David Njengere, chief executive officer of the KNEC, stated that only applicants who are selected will be required to pay a Sh10,500 training fee.

“The applicants will be notified through a text message and the portal on how to make the payments,” Njengere said.

The exercise will be purely residential, and the training location will be communicated to the shortlisted candidates upon payment of the training fee, according to him.

“KNEC will thereafter engage such examiners using the criteria for recruitment of examiners based on the personnel needs for each paper,” he said.

He added that teachers who have already been trained as KCSE examiners and are in the KNEC database of examiners are exempt from applying.

He reiterated that applications are being accepted from qualified and interested teachers for examinations in Kiswahili (Insha, Lugha, Fasihi), Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Home Science, Islamic Religious Education, Agriculture, French, Arabic, and Business Studies.

In addition, applicants must be under the age of 50 and receive a recommendation from the institution’s director.

How to Apply

Applicants have been instructed to submit their applications via the KNEC examiners’ portal.

“Those with Cp2 accounts must log in with their usernames and passwords,” Njengere stated.

“Upon successful login, complete your personal profile and save. On the dashboard, click on Apply for Training, and all the declared vacancies will be available for the applicants to choose from.”

According to him, there are a limited number of training spaces, and the online application portal will close once the quota has been met.

According to KNEC, the KCSE examinations are scheduled to begin on October 23, 2023, and conclude on November 24, 2023.

On October 19, 2023, the rehearsals will occur.
