KNEC Finalizes Plans for 2.3m KCSE, KCPE Candidates
Plans to administer national examinations to the 2.3 million students taking the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) this year have been finalized.
Approximately 1,415,315 students will take the KCPE exam, while 903,260 will take the KCSE exam.
David Njengere, the chief executive officer of the Kenya National Examination Council, stated that preparations have been made for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) for 1,282,574 Grade Six students.
Dr. Njengere stated that candidate registration has been completed, examination papers have been prepared, and tests will be administered as scheduled.
Yesterday, he made these remarks at the inauguration of the 39th Conference of the Association for Educational Assessment in Africa, which was held at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Educational Assessment for Nurturing Every Learner’s Potential,” which aligns with the transition from the 8-4-4 curriculum to the competency-based curriculum.
The KCPE and KPSEA examinations are scheduled for October 30 to November 2.
On October 27, KCPE candidates will have rehearsals. On October 30, they will take tests in mathematics, language, and composition. Candidates will take Science, Kiswahili Lugha, and Kiswahili Insha the following day.
The examination will conclude on November 1 with Social Studies and Religious Education questions.
Exam schedules for KCSE candidates are from November 3 to November 24.
On August 29, schools return for the shortest term of the academic year, giving students only two months to prepare.
