Kisii School Students Nabbed With Rolls Of Bhang After Sniffer Dogs Deployed. Two Kisii High School students have been arrested after being found in possession of marijuana during a surprise search ordered by the institution’s administration on the first day of classes. One of the students had stuffed 10 rolls of bhang into a medicine wrapper, while another had repackaged tea bags with marijuana. What was supposed to be a routine opening day search at the school took a different turn on Tuesday after the administration requested the services of police officers and their sniffer dogs. The narcotics-detecting dogs discovered what could easily have made its way into the school: ten rolls of marijuana concealed in a pack ostensibly containing medicine. The owner, who was subdued and defeated, struggled to explain. The school administration’s decision to use the dogs was most likely influenced by discussions at a head teachers’ conference in Mombasa, which identified substance abuse as one of the major causes of indiscipline in schools. The second case involved a student who purchased tea bags, emptied their contents, and replaced it with bhang; both would have easily slipped through the teachers’ security checks if not for the sniffer dogs.Parents who witnessed the search expressed relief, saying they now know their children are in good hands.Late last year, a wave of indiscipline in schools, characterized primarily by arson attacks, sparked widespread concern, with parents and teachers looking for solutions to what was becoming an increasingly dangerous and costly turn of events.A week ago, secondary school heads in Mombasa proposed drug testing for students as one of several measures to combat school indiscipline. The two students were separated from the rest of the class and are being held in custody until they appear in court.Kisii School Students Nabbed With Rolls Of Bhang After Sniffer Dogs Deployed
