On Monday, a tragic incident occurred when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) caused a fatal accident, resulting in the loss of at least two officers affiliated with the General Service Unit (GSU). Reports have indicated that the explosion also left several other officers injured, who were promptly transported to Dadaab Hospital for urgent medical attention. The attack took place at Ege Dam, situated along the Dadaab-Garissa road, and it left some of the officers in critical condition.
The front portion of the vehicle sustained significant damage as a consequence of the accident. It is highly likely that Al Shabaab militants, who have carried out numerous attacks in the country’s northern regions, planted the IED.

The north of the country has witnessed a surge in Al Shabaab attacks, resulting in the loss of lives among innocent Kenyan citizens. In response, the government, led by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki and Defense counterpart Aden Duale, has made a firm commitment to curbing these attacks and holding the perpetrators accountable.
In October, Kindiki made public the identities and photographs of the 35 most wanted terrorists responsible for various attacks in Kenya. Meanwhile, as the national exams commence across the country, numerous challenges have arisen, particularly in areas where heavy rainfall has obstructed the transportation of examination materials.
