KUPPET Says Politicians Have Taken Control of TSC, Seizing Job Opportunities

Kenya Union Of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) National Chairman and Emuhaya MP Omboko Milemba allege that politicians have taken control of the recruitment process advertised by the Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC) in order to favor their associates.

While addressing residents in Vihiga, the MP pointed out that there is a lack of fairness in the TSC’s teacher recruitment because politicians have managed to secure most of the positions.

Omboko has pledged to bring up this issue in the National Assembly with the goal of preventing politicians from meddling in TSC’s operations.

Omboko expressed regret over the politicians’ takeover of TSC’s operations through their acquisition of job positions advertised by the institution.

If allowed, he cautioned that politicians seizing TSC vacancies could create an unjust teacher recruitment process in the country, potentially depriving children of opportunities.

He urged TSC to maintain professionalism by distributing all job openings equitably throughout the nation. Omboko emphasized that the employer should conduct teacher recruitment impartially to ensure that all qualified teachers are given job opportunities.

Omboko also requested that TSC give a chance to teachers who completed their training a long time ago during the recruitment process.

Omboko urged TSC to maintain professionalism by conducting fair teacher recruitment and to resist political pressure. He called for qualified teachers to be given opportunities across the country based on merit.

Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi echoed these sentiments and accused politicians associated with the Kenya Kwanza faction of occupying all government positions to reward their associates.

During his addresses in Vihiga over the weekend, Osotsi cited teacher recruitment by TSC, Kenya Defense Forces, and the employment of Kenya Revenue Authority personnel, alleging that government-affiliated politicians had used these opportunities to reward their supporters.

Osotsi disclosed that he had already raised this matter in the Senate and had requested the lists of individuals hired by TSC, KRA, and KDF to assess whether there was regional balance in the distribution of such positions.

Osotsi claimed that he had asked Moses Kuria, the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, to provide the Senate with a list of people who had recently worked for TSC, KDF, and KRA. He expressed a desire to ascertain whether there had been fairness in the recruitment process.
