Cabinet Secretary for Education George Magoha dedicated newly built classrooms at Umoja Secondary and Paul Boit Secondary in Uasin Gishu.

Prof Mahoga stated that the construction completion rates for the remaining 3,500 classrooms have passed the 50% mark and that the completion will be on or slightly after the election date.

“As we head to elections, we continue to pray for peaceful elections and I’m grateful to the citizens who have allowed us to work as if there is nothing going on, as they know we are just working for the children who belong here, as the children neither have political parties nor vote,” Magoha said.

“I appreciate the 4th Estate for working with us through this journey. We shall continue to deliver for the children, I will continue to push my people and find out how far we have gone on the CBC classroom completions before the end of the year,” he stated.

Prof Magoha also apologized for the sudden closure of schools.

“I accept full responsibility for the minor discomfort I have caused you.”

“Please understand that I love the children and would be the last person to jeopardize their lives or anything,” he said.

“It is critical that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) gain access to schools because the schools will be used as polling stations for the General Elections on August 9th,” he added.

Magoha praised the progress made in completing the CBC classrooms as directed.
