Canadian Humber College Partners With Bomet 33 TVETs to Improve Vocational Training
Humber College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, based in Canada, is teaming up with 33 Vocational Training Colleges (VTCs) in Bomet.
The partnership comes after Bomet Governor Prof. Hillary Barchok met with Humber College’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan, to discuss ways to improve vocational training in the County and learn from the best practices of VTCs, particularly in areas such as recognition of prior learning, applied research, and competency-based learning.
One of the goals of the partnership is to establish teacher and student exchange programs between Bomet VTCs and Humber College. However, this will only happen after all framework modalities have been put in place.
Additionally, the discussion included exploring ways to create centers of excellence in the 33 VTCs in the County.
The Governor noted that the partnership is aimed at equipping youths with the knowledge, skills, and training necessary to compete as a global workforce while opening up opportunities that may not be available in the white-collar jobs sector.
He further mentioned that his administration is continuously improving the academic and infrastructural development in the VTCs while aiming to increase enrollment of trainees.
The partnership between Humber College and the Bomet VTCs is expected to benefit both parties.
Humber College will have the opportunity to share its expertise and experience with the VTCs in Bomet, while the VTCs will gain access to new knowledge, resources, and technologies that can improve their vocational training programs.
