The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has warned candidates taking the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams to be wary of fake exam papers being shared on various social media platforms.

Dr David Njengere, CEO of KNEC, acknowledged that the test papers posted on social media platforms are not real and are merely intended to fool students taking the KCSE.

“I can assure you that there is no single genuine paper that can circulate on those social media platforms. All they have is fake papers,” said Njegere.

He stated that the Ministry of Education’s new instructions for reducing exam misconduct are effective and that the exam council is motivated to conduct credible outcomes.

Njegere has praised center managers and security personnel for their collaboration throughout the national tests, which are now in their second week.

“The double collection of morning and afternoon papers has helped to curb the challenge of early exposure of second session paper,” Njegere said in a press conference on Monday.

Meanwhile, the KNEC CEO has implemented various efforts to ensure timely delivery of test papers to schools affected by heavy rains.

KNEC has documented 46 incidences of malpractice in the country so far but asserts that the figure does not compromise the exam’s integrity.
