2,000 TVET Instructors Recruitment News and Updates; 2023
The government plans to employ 2,000 more instructors for the country’s 238 Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) colleges.
According to Ezekiel Machogu, Cabinet Secretary for Education, the recruitment would strengthen the technical capacities of the colleges to build a wide variety of technical and vocational skills in the students they have admitted.
On Friday, Machogu commissioned Chemasiri Technical and Vocational College in Teso North Subcounty, Busia County.

According to the CS, the government has hired 1,300 new instructors to join the existing instructors in strengthening TVET colleges’ capacity to train students.
He stated that the government prioritizes TVET to provide practical skills to young people to service an economy that requires technical and vocational abilities.
Machogu further stated that TVET colleges will provide young people with globally marketable skills that will be needed in Germany and other European countries.
The CS also stated the government’s intention to create technical training institutes in all constituencies.
Ruto stated during Mashujaa Day celebrations on Friday that the measure will increase the provision of skills, knowledge, and competencies among youth.

The President also stated that the administration has successfully reduced teacher shortages by having the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) recruit 56,000 teachers, which is half the required number.
Ruto stated that the government had hired 46,000 more teacher interns to fill shortfalls in the field.
