University of Embu Awarded As Best Performing State varsity
For the second year in a row, the University of Embu has been named the best performing public university.
It also received a score of 1.9290, making it the overall runner-up to the National Irrigation Board, which was named the best-performing state corporation in the 2020-2021 fiscal year with a score of 1.8890.
The university’s achievements were achieved through excellent financial stewardship and discipline, according to the 2020-21 financial year evaluations report.
Service delivery, core mandate, presidential directive implementation, promotion of local content, and cross-cutting were also measured.
In the 2019-2020 fiscal year, the institution was ranked overall the best-performing state corporation, demonstrating the university’s performance-oriented status.
Education and Research at the University PS Simon Nabukwesi praised the institution for its ongoing infrastructure development, which has steered the university toward milestones, among other things.
During a courtesy visit to the institution on Friday, Nabukwesi spoke.
He thanked the university for being prudent with its resources, including savings that has enabled them to establish lecture theaters as a separate project to supplement the government’s infrastructure development efforts.
The University of Embu has installed solar panels, saving up to Sh120,000 per month on electricity bills.
These savings have helped to fund the construction of lecture halls with seating for 600 students.
Nabukwesi noted that the university’s population is growing at a rapid rate of 4,000 students per year, and that the state should increase funding for additional tuition blocks and other amenities.
