TSC clarified that internship is not remunerative but JSS interns will receive a monthly stipend of Kshs. 20,000, subject to statutory deductions including SHIF, Housing Levy and NSSF. Upon successful completion, interns will be issued with a certificate of service.
Internship service is recognized in subsequent recruitment and awarding of 50 marks to teachers who previously served under internship terms during permanent and pensionable (PnP) recruitment. This weighting makes conversion to permanent and pensionable terms automatic for those with internship experience once opportunities arise. In this recruitment, TSC has allocated 24,000 internship slots across all counties and sub-counties.
